I hope you are all surviving the miserable month of January, lighter, brighter days are coming!
My blog this month is entitled “A touch of Glass”, named after the hilarious classic Only Fools and Horses episode where Delboy and Rodney are hired to clean a priceless chandelier in a stately home, it all goes dreadfully wrong, resulting in the wrong chandelier being unscrewed and crashes to the floor! My story isn’t quite as disastrous as this, but is still funny!
As I said in my last blog, I am refurbishing my new London apartment, I’ve always wanted a beautiful crystal chandelier as I have wonderful high ceilings, so when I found 2 stunning Czech crystal chandeliers for sale on eBay, I had to own them!
Installation day was eventful, firstly these chandeliers weigh an absolute tonne (even with the crystals taken off), so getting them hanging from the ceiling was a bit stressful and nerve wracking. We got the living room one done, it looks absolutely spectacular, breathtaking even, it is also VERY large and hangs down quite low (which I’m told is how you should hang them (2.1m from the floor)). We move to the bedroom, and something dawns on me………I can’t have the bedroom chandelier as low as the living room one, not unless my visitors (or myself) want to be banging our heads on the crystal chandelier hanging over the bed. I spent the next few minutes recreating different sexual positions to ensure that there is enough head (or any other body part) room for the bedroom olympics that can happen. We managed to get it to hang on its highest point, so I think everyone will be safe!
They look absolutely stunning and I am thrilled with them both. I have a lot of work to do on the apartment, I want to create a luxurious home and space for myself and my guests to enjoy.
